    What's Bronchitis?

    Bronchitis is well referred to as Shvasa Pranali Shotha in Ayurvedic arrangement of treatment and basically it is an inflammation of the trachea (windpipe) and bronchi (air passages) of the lungs. It usually occurs in rainy and cold climate but can arise virtually in any season. It is able to deliver either acute (severe but for short duration ) or chronic form (persists for a lot longer period) of the condition and may have an effect on people of all age groups.


    Bronchitis Causes / Triggers & Risk Factors

    Frequent contact with air contaminants like smoke, strong fumes of poisonous chemical, dirt, and dust particles or toxins which includes ammonia, cannabis and many others.

    Too much smoking (Chain smoking).

    Asthma or Bronchial asthma.

    Repeated gastric reflux.

    Aggravated Vata and Kapha.

    Excessive physical effort or exertion.

    Toxins accumulation in the body.

    Signs & Symptoms of Bronchitis

    There are lots of dominant signs and symptoms of bronchitis -

    Swelling of the bronchi, Consistent cough, Tightness in the chest, Chest pain, Breathlessness or dyspnoea, Shortness of breath, Persistent hack, Wheezing or whistling sound, Hoarseness of throat, Irritation in the throat, and Development of white, viscid, or sticky sputum  which may be  purulent sometimes.

    Low-grade fever and  chills.

    Throbbing  headache and body aches.

    Fatigue or Tiredness.

    Nasal congestion - Blocked, stuffy or runny nose.

    Loss of appetite and Emaciation.

    Sometimes Vomiting and diarrhea.

    Diagnosis of  Bronchitis

    Chest X-ray for postero-anterior view.

    Sputum tests.

    P.F.T. - Pulmonary function test.

    Complete blood cells count Examination especially for White blood cells.

    Eating regimen, Lifestyle Advice and other Home remedies

    Wash hands with antiseptic or Herbal Neem soap frequently to prevent infection.

    Drink only normal, boiled and luke-warm water. Intake only fresh and warm foods.

    Chewing of  fresh  basil leaves in raw form on regular basis may be considered an awesome remedy to take care of bronchitis.

    Gargling with luke-warm water mixed with common salt may be  advantageous to get some good comfort in heaviness inside the chest and discomfort of the throat.

    Stay far from already infected people of upper respiratory tract disorders.

    Use nose and mouth mask while moving outdoors or during bike riding.

    Hot steam inhalation of vicks-vaporub is an excellent treatment of Bronchitis and should be done on regular basis.

    Make a decoction of ginger, pepper corns, long pepper and basil leaves and drink it two to three times a day as it is effective in the condition of bronchitis.

    Useful oils for Bronchitis

    Eucalyptus Oil - Eucalyptus globulus.

    Peppermint Oil -Mentha piperita.

    Oregano Oil - Winter sweet marjoram - Origanum vulgare.

    Lavender oil.

    Turpentine oil.

    Thyme  oil.

    Tea tree essential oil.

    Olive oil.

    You can pick one of above said essential oils for chest rubbing, since they are very effective solutions for different kinds of lung diseases which includes Bronchitis as well.

    Exercise routinely but do not perform laborious works out.

It might also be  an amazing solution for both acute and chronic bronchitis. It can be considered 2-3 times every day.

    Take below written natural herbs in certain quantities -


    Dry Ginger - 20 gms.

    Cloves - 5 gms.

    Cardamom - 5 gms.

    Malabar nut tree leaves /Vasaka - 30 gms.

    Chicory root - 10 gms.

    Licorice root - 25 gms.

    Black pepper - 5 gms.

    Long pepper - 5 gms.

    Sugar candy - 50 gms.

    and also make a fine powder after grinding them. Now this combination is ready to use, as this is a well natural expectorant to treat any kinds of coughs and should be taken it 2 - 3 times per day with honey.

    Make a tea of garlic  (only 2 cloves will be required) and drink.

    Only have a warm bath. For this purpose, need to be used Epsom salt combined hot water only.

    1/4 teaspoonful turmeric natural powder and a glass of cow's milk (only luke warm cow's milk is suggested) have to be served in children cases with acute bronchitis.
