    Leucorrhoea and its Ayurvedic Treatment

    Leucorrhea (White Discharge) / Vaginal White Discharge

    Leucorrhoea is recognized as Shweta-pradara in Hindi term where Shweta means white, and pradara stands for discharge. Leucorrhea is a disorder  where a thick, viscid, foul smelling, lumpy, jelly, slimy, frothy, dirty white, greenish, yellowish, sticky, increased, abnormal and unusual discharge releases from the female genitalia (vagina of women). It's a common health disorder suffered by almost all the women, may occur due to unhygienic conditions, contamination, infection of the genital tract etc.


    Causes of leucorrhoea

    Excessive intake of heavy, greasy, cold, sweet foods.

    Infections of genital tract from bacteria, fungi, parasites etc.

    Sexual Transmitted Diseases / STD - trichomoniasis, gonorrhoea etc.

    Pelvic inflammatory diseases and cervix problems.

    Overindulgence in sex.

    Repeated abortion and / or frequent pregnancy.

    Improper genital and vaginal hygienic attitude during menstrual cycles.

    Local injury and swelling of the womb following childbirth.

    Displacement of the uterus.

    Threadworm infestations.

    Lack of nutrition, anemia and general debility.

    Grief, stress, anxiety, and tension, day time sleeping, sedentary lifestyle etc. 

    Excessive alcohol intake.

    Incompatible food.

    Hormonal disturbances.

    Indigestion & Constipation.

    Symptoms of leucorrhoea

    Weakness, debility, anemia, pain in thigh region, lower backache, backache, stomach ache, bodyache and tiredness.

    Irritation, burning sensation, redness, and itching in the genital area.

    Thick, yellowish white discharge from the vaginal canal.

    Headache, dizziness, frustration, syncope, thirst, sepsis, delirium, drowsiness.

    Dark patches under the eyes.

    Fatigue and irritability.


    Diet and Lifestyle Advice for Leucorrhoea sufferers

    Avoid heavy, greasy, fried, spicy, sour foods, fisheries, meat, egg, tea, coffee, alcohol, chilled drinks/ aerated drinks etc.

    Increase intake of fresh fruits, green - leafy  vegetables, salads and  fluids in the diet, such as drinking normal water, soup, milk and juice to flush out the contaminants and  toxins of the body.

    Maintain proper hygiene and  wash undergarments on daily basis, and dried up it in sun-light.

    Vaginal wash (vaginal - douche) - Maintain proper genital cleanliness and make a douche from bark of the banyan tree or the fig tree or 2-3 tsp fenugreek seeds with lukewarm water because douching with the lukewarm decoction help to keep the vaginal tract clean.

    A glass of rice washed water mixed with 10-20 gms. of jaggary should be used during noon time is very beneficial in leucorrhoea.

    Avoid enjoying anything that could increases erotic excitement.
