WHAT IS GALL-BLADDER ?
The gallbladder is one of a tiny pear-formed
body organ that averages three to six inches in length.
It
lies below the liver in the upper right facet of the abdomen. It really works
like a modest compartment, where the bile discharged from the liver is stored inside gall bladder pouch. This
liquid allows in digestive functions by breaking down body fat and cholesterol
into small particles. Bile is manufactured in the liver, then stored in the
gallbladder until the body needs it to digest fat. At that time, the
gallbladder contracts and pushes the bile into a tube - refered to as the common
bile duct, that incorporates it to the small intestine. Gall stone disease is more often experienced by
women until the age of 45-50 years.
WHAT IS GALL BLADDER STONES ?
Gallstones are caused by chemical changes in the bile and
are solid deposits of cholesterol or calcium salts that form in your
gallbladder or nearby bile ducts. These stones can be as small as a grain of sand or as
large as a golf ball. The gallbladder can develop either one big stone, masses
of tiny stones, or almost any combination.
Types of Gallstones:-
There are two types of gallstones:-
1. Cholesterol stones made up of hardened cholesterol are usually yellow-green. 80
percent of gallstones are cholesterol stones. They are caused an excessive amount of
cholesterol, bilirubin, or not sufficient salts or when the gallbladder
does not empty as it need to. Cholesterol gallstones are composed specifically of cholesterol which is made in the liver.
2. Pigment stones made of bilirubin are small, darkish stones. Their reason is unsure despite the fact that they generally tend to occur in
people with liver-cirrhosis, biliary tract infections, and hereditary blood
disorders consisting of sickle cell anemia . Pigment gallstones are composed of calcium salts, bilirubin and other
material. The shape and size of gallstones varies. Gallstones are formed from cholesterol crystals and shiny
yellow. Stone that formed from the pigment billirubin is typically black and hard or dark brown, but fragile.
Gallstone size common of about 10-20 mm in diameter.
Symptoms-
Some
gallstones will usually show no signs or symptoms .In some of the cases, stone
block the bile ducts or cause inflammation of the gall bladder will cause

back between the shoulder blades (under the right shoulder), other digestive
problems like Nausea, Vomiting, Abdominal bloating, Belching, flatulence, Chronic
Indigestion, lack of appetite, colicky pain abdomen.
